ABOUT ME
Hello my name is Mark, welcome to Elloe Counselling.
Sometimes life, family or work related pressures, traumatic events, loss, or debilitating anxiety or depression become overwhelming. This is often when we stop being who we want to be, stop living life the way we want to live and sometimes we need some help to get ourselves back on track.
I provide counselling help and support to both adults and young people; a confidential, safe place to talk, to explore your thoughts and emotional reactions to events - past and present. Counselling provides an opportunity to find peace, or perhaps clarity, to understand and potentially make sense of hard to handle feelings such as sadness, guilt, shame, anger or vulnerability; feelings that may be dominating, overwhelming and stopping you moving forward and getting the most out of life.
I run my private therapy practice, Elloe Counselling from home to provide bespoke therapy sessions.
As a professionally qualified experienced counsellor I am here to listen and really hear your story, from your perspective; support you and help you manage the present, reflect on the past and move forward from some of the many debilitating effects of anxiety, depression, grief loss and trauma.
You and your life events are what makes you unique so each session has you at its core, your needs - and each session is structured to help self-discovery and understanding of the person you are and offers a way to move forward with guidance for growth and potentially the opportunity for change and acceptance.
Practice description
My private practice is based in the South Lincolnshire market town, Spalding. Which is in the historical Hundred of Elloe – hence the name.
Whilst I am a qualified person centred therapist, I work with a range of therapy modules adapting our work together the find the best and most helpful way to support you through therapy.
I will frequently develop and share creative ways of working with adults, these can be helpful when looking at difficult and more challenging areas of work that may be difficult to articulate in the traditional way.
The first session
The first session will always begin with a short but important assessment, the purpose of this is to ensure I have the necessary knowledge and experience to help you. I'll ask a little about you and explain how counselling works, the do's and don'ts not be able to help with. Also I will work with you to try and understand what you want to achieve from the sessions, how you want to feel, your best hopes and desires for when we have finished our work together. I'll be working gently with you to begin to gain an understanding of what has been going on in your life and how these things have impacted you, to bring you to seek my help on this first session.
There will always be lots of opportunities to ask any questions you need to about the process or the structure of the sessions. I explain about payment and confidentiality and ways in which we can work together, amongst other things and how also about how I aim to strive to always work ethically by putting you and your needs first and foremost in all that we do.
It may feel strange at first but I will be with you and will try and provide a place for you to feel as comfortable and as safe as possible at a time when you may understandably feel a little nervous, unsure and possibly emotional.
